It all confirmed though how much of this ride is going to be getting my head straight. The 55 miles I had done the weekend before was the longest I've done and is comparable to the section down to Newhaven. But so much of that ride was spent fearing Box Hill and the much scarier Crocknorth. I am thinking of driving the route to Newhaven (and possibly to Paris!!) just so I know what it looks like and how good/bad it might be. In the meantime the video below is the kind of cycling I really enjoy.

The Cycology of riding a bike
Krishnan here : I wimped out of a fairly modest 30 mile ride on sunday with a friend. I've never ridden with him before and was scared I wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace. It wasn't the distance just the cadence that worried me. I went around Richmond Park three times on my own instead - 25 miles by the time I got home. I must be getting a bit better as I didn't really feel like I'd been on a ride at all afterwards. Either that or I was really crawling along at a pace that wouldn't bother a muscle.
